Hologram Tupac at Coachella 2012

This pretty much made my day, if you haven't seen this yet be sure to watch it now.

Everyone seems to have mixed feelings on Tupac being brought back as a hologram. Some say it's disrespectful and lame while others are praising the technology to come from this. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Tupac is not only my favorite rapper but he is also my favorite artist of all time regardless of genre. If I was to be trapped on a deserted island the rest of my life and had the choice of only listening to one artists music catalog, Tupac would be my answer. Hands down.

The technology here is incredible and I'm excited to see what can come from this. Maybe we'll be blessed with another Up In Smoke Tour with the edition of Hologram Tupac, legendary! Shoot, maybe they could even make some sort of Hologram Tupac show in Las Vegas... I actually see a hologram show much more appealing then some sort of Tupac impersonator trying to mimic his sound, style and appeal. And I guess the boundaries are endless as they could use this very same technology for other deceased artists. Sorry Elvis impersonators, you've been replaced by holograms!

See you in the future, you mean the past... Exactly

The MC Type | BE YOURSELF | New Song

I've met some great artists in the Seattle area music scene and The MC Type is one of those artists. Not only is he a great artist he is also a super legit human being. I had the pleasure to rock a show with him this past February at The Jet in Mill Creek, it was a pleasure promoting and rocking a show together. Typically, The MC Type rocks hip-hop tunes layered with creative, hysterical comedy lyrics. And I'll admit, at first listen some folks get scared of that style. Me on the other hand, I dig it instantly.

I've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of his next project as I've heard through the grapevine it just may have some Mat Wisner (Viper Creek Club) beats on the record. The MC Type drops his new EP titled Bad Tattoos Volume One on April 18th, 2012. He also just leaked a song from the new EP on youtube which you can peep at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0xfmw3TEHQ

I was totally shocked at first listen when I heard the new leaked song Be Yourself. I was prepared for another skull crushing, comedy laced jam but was met with a subtle, chill out beat with heartfelt rhymes. The beat was produced by Grieves and I'm looking forward to downloading the EP once it drops so I can bump it in the whip!

The New iPad | Apple Fixes Camera Lock Screen Function With iOS 5.1 Update

Today Apple announced The New iPad, for me the name is very lame and will one day get very confusing. Trust me, I can predict the future as I have access to a Delorean time machine. None the less the long awaited iPad refresh is here, available now for preorders and will be in stores next week, March 16th. The 3 top improvements seem to be the Retina screen, A5X processor and 4G LTE capabilities. Apple seemed to upgrade the iPad just enough to make it through the next year but I didn't see anything truly amazing worth rushing out and buying The New iPad.

Let's be straight, I own a Macbook Pro, iPhone 4 and just sold my iPad 2 about a month ago. I owned my iPad 2 for almost a year but didn't find myself using it very much. Between my iPhone 4 and Macbook Pro I just had no room for another device. I constantly found myself having battles in my head in which activity to perform on each of my 3 devices at the time. I tend to get the bulk of my work done on my Macbook Pro and engage in browsing the news to emailing or chatting on Facebook with friends very comfortably. When I'm away from my Macbook my iPhone 4 steps in and does the job. Some days I don't touch my Macbook as my iPhone 4 does everything I need. I actually prefer the Twitter and Mail apps on my iPhone 4 over the iPad 2 for that matter.

With time closing in on the new iPad refresh of 2012 I opted to sell my iPad 2 and cash in for the maximum value before the price dropped. I'm proud to say I sold my iPad 2 (32GB/WiFi) for $500. Total bang for my buck. I got to experience the iPad 2 for almost a year and once you figure in tax, apps and a few accessories I purchased I was only out about $200. There's another point for Apple, their products hold their value so if you realize it's not for you then selling your device usually fares in a decent return with minimal loss.

Pushing The New iPad aside there are still 3 things I'm really excited for from Apple in 2012. First, I'm eagerly awaiting the next iPhone as this one should finally land the iPhone 5 tag. Apple is now in the position to do a total refresh (including hardware and design) of the iPhone and I hope this happens. In order for Apple to push into 2013 and continue their dominance they must release a truly spectacular iPhone 5. No more incremental upgrades... i.e. iPhone 4... iPhone 4 Verizon... iPhone 4s... I hope Apple will get back on track and put the iPhone refresh back into its normal June release schedule. This is only a hope as I'm confident they will stay with September as it makes more sense for the current model to remain on the market for a year or so.

Second, Apple TV? No, I'm not talking about the little box you connect to your television. I'm talking about a full on Apple TV from head to toe. Think more huge iPad here.

Third, Macbook Pro major refresh. I love my current Macbook Pro. It's just over a year old now and works great. I waited for this model to come out as I had an iMac before my Macbook Pro purchase. My iMac had an Intel Pentium processor and was becoming more and more archaic (not really). I didn't see value in buying a Macbook Pro with the same old processor, so I waited till the Sandy Bridge processors made their way to the Macbook Pro line refresh. This happened in January of 2011 so I felt comfortable purchasing a laptop with an updated processor that could last me a few solid years.

I'd love to see Apple take elements of the iPad and incorporate them into the next major overhaul of the Macbook Pro line. Yes, OS Lion has helped here. But give me a touch screen on my laptop, give me 4G LTE capability so I don't have to rely on WiFi all the time. Say bye bye to optical hard drives and give me flash memory with instant start up. I hate to see my external disc drive leave but if this aids in a slimmer profile I'm all for it. Just make sure I have the option to purchase an external thunderbolt disc drive so I can still load high quality (Aiff, or 320 kbps MP3s) music files into iTunes and still be able to burn discs. Sorry Apple the current bit rate you get from iTunes blows, especially for audio-heads like myself. How about a projector for presentations and some upgraded speakers? And while were at it make this bad boy water proof too... That technology is coming just around the corner Apple, don't front!!!

The best news of the Apple keynote today comes from a little rant I had back in October 2011 when iOS 5 was released. iOS 5 was a great update and I was thrilled for months before its release. A little feature I was excited about was instant access to your camera from the lock screen. Before this there was too many steps involved in getting to your camera... Here is the quoted text from that post.

"As for iOS 5, so far so good, one thing I did notice is the camera button for the home lock screen is not present like it was in the Apple presentation. This was a little upgrade I was very excited about, after fooling around with it a little more I noticed if you tap the home button twice while on the lock screen then the instant camera button appears. I was hoping it would permanently be on the true lock screen, I don't see a true time saving feature by taping twice then hitting the camera button as opposed to swiping and tapping the camera app once. Maybe this feature was tweaked so the tap to instant camera button wouldn't be triggered so often when just floating in your pocket. In my opinion lets just put it on the true home lock screen and see what happens." -OL' Small, October 2011 http://olsmall.blogspot.com/2011/10/ios-5-issues-problems-maybe-i-can-help.html

Well folks I'm proud to say Apple listened and fixed this little bug thanks to your boy OL' Small! No matter what lock screen your on now you have an instant camera access button. Hooray!!! Well now I can get on with my life and not worry about missing pictures because of lag time in firing open my iPhone camera. Can you say OCD? And......... Let the iPhone 5 rumors begin!
